How long did it take you to learn PHP?

I don't know PHP but i have the desire to learn it. But, how long do you think it would take to learn PHP? I'm not saying to be a professional but enough to be able to make your own scripts?

It took me quite a while to learn that. Almost a year before something finally sinks in. I am a slow learner but now I can do build sites using a domain name and free hosting.

It took me whole summer to learn using PHP ,and around a year until i was a bit of a Pro.

well, the question(s) you have have to ask yourself are,

how much time each day/week will i be able to devote to learning this?
am i going to do this professionally (taking a course either online or in a class) or am i going to teach myself with a couple books/tuturials?
am i looking to just do some basic applications with php, or make CMSs and other big programs/scripts?


i started learning html/php at the same time around a year ago, and im still learning it. theres just so many things you can do with php that its going to take a while no matter what.
